2008 School and Community Group Participation

Follow required parade guidelines listed on separate sheet. The sheet also describes the parade theme. Groups are not required to follow the theme, but may find it helpful.
2. Attend leadership training workshops, if interested (one or two persons per organization per session).
These free workshops, held in March and April, are strongly recommended for groups new to paradeparticipation. Attend required movement session, June 7 or 8.
3. Optional consultation with Robin VanLear, Artistic Director, Parade the Circle, and/or Debbie Apple-Presser, Parade Outreach Coordinator.
Recommended for new groups4. Register by Sunday, May 25 to be listed in printed program. Forms available in May. Register by Tuesday, June 10, for parade buttons and parking privileges. All registration fees include parade entry.
5. We set parade fees as low as we can and ask each group to pay a bit. If even these rates present a hardship to your group, please call as soon as possible before you begin work to discuss special arrangements.
6. Send one representative to required group leader meeting Tuesday, June 10, 7:00 pm.
OPTION 1: ON YOUR OWN
A. Pay $6 for each parade participant (including parents, volunteers, and staff).
B. Create ensemble at your site, utilizing your staff or volunteers.
C. Purchase parade materials from CMA, if interested
OPTION 2: AT CMA WORKSHOPS
A. Register your organization for public workshops held at CMA.
Basic workshops: Fridays, May 2-June 13, 6:00-9:00
Saturdays, May 3-June 7, 1:30-4:30
Sundays, May 4-June 8, 1:30-4:30
The workshop space is also available for you to work on your own at other scheduled times.
B. Minimum charge per organization: $150 (covers first 4 participants); $25 each additional person. These fees cover those working in basic workshop, and include parade registration. Special batik workshop and stilt purchases for stilt-dancing workshops require additional fees.
C. Basic parade materials are included in the fee. Special materials may cost $50-$250 depending on number of participants and complexity of ensemble design.
D. Additional charge $6 per person for those in parade only.
